WHO WHAT WHERE WHY HOW, ROWDY?
ROWDY – Adjective, to be noisy.
We are the noisy bell ringing for a happier way. An alternative, independent, positive team who see we all desire the same thing, happiness.
WHY, because we saw a glaring gap in the local market, marked by glossy and unnatural leather bags. Then, noticing the dis-heartening reality of low paid individuals in claustrophobically sad and unnatural working environments.
And so ROWDY was born.
WHO, by a 20yr old with an idea. He went in search of a materials and a set of skilled individuals who could help him bring his idea into manifestation.
HOW, we saw we needed a place to sell, but realised that selling to a shop meant it would double the selling price of our bags due to standard store mark-up’s. We saw a disconnect between producer and customer.
The answer came to us in the majestic form of the radiantly popular downtown hip, The Old Biscuit Mill Market. And really, the rest is history…
8 months later we opened up our factory 1km up the road from the Market, with 10 vibrating, singing machines and machinists.
Everyday we are growing, organically, which for us means –
Converting our full range to 100% naturally plant dyed leathers,
Becoming the highest paid company in the country for skilled manual labour,
Maintaining our direct-to-customer distribution model, no stores.
It’s us and you! Building a new and fun, beautiful and strong, classic and lasting, natural and happy bag and future!
All at the ROWDY Warehouse Factory, Cape Town.
